Most single homeless applicants are not entitled to housing assistance from local authorities. With housing benefit restrictions for those under age thirty-five, and the unwillingness of landlords to rent to the single unemployed, most single homeless individuals find themselves in a position where it is virtually impossible for them to find a roof over their heads. Far too many end-up on the street. In the bid to survive some take to crime, placing themselves in a revolving door in and out of prison.
